Cooking with Kids


These delightful cooking activities with kids allow parents to spend quality time with their youth while instilling useful “kitchen” skills. Below are some entertaining easy recipes that kids would love to cook, and cherish the moments spent.

1. Make Your Very Own Pizzas

Ingredients: individual pizza bases, tomato paste, cheese, various toppings (including pepperoni, veggies, etc.)

Instructions: Allow individual children to sauce their base, cheese it and put their chioce of topping on the toppings. Bake until the cheese bubbles!

2. Fruity Kabobs

Ingredients: Mixed fruit (strawberries, bananas, grapes, melon), skewers wooden.

Instructions: Let kids select the fruits of their choice and aim them on the skewers. More also serve this with dippel yogurt.

3. Tacos Kits

Ingredients: Corn taco shells, Mexican seasoning for meat (or beans), shredded iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese, hot sauce.

Instructions: make a taco bar assembly line and let the children make their own tacos and choose what toppings to put on it.

4. Pancake Decoration

Ingredients: Pan cake mix, Color.

Instructions: Powder the mixture as squishing instruction fills colored paste. Make funny looking figures on a hot griddle with shape squeeze bottle.

5. How To Make Ice Cream At Home

You will need: heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla essence.

Method: Combine all items and pour them into a mold. Leave it in the freezer for a couple of hours and then serve in scoops none the less!

6. Vegan Friendly Sausages using Veggie Sausages on bread

Bread cut into slices, cream cheese, and some fresh vegetables (dolichos, carrots, red bell pepper).

How to do: Apply cream cheese on toast and allow the children to wear the veggies and create amazing laughter provoking faces.

7. Pretzels With Melted Choco

Melted pretzel chocolate sticks, pretzel rods.

How to do: Take pretzel rods and dip them in melted chocolate. Top with after sprinkling the topping over the chocolate. Allow to rest on baking paper.

8. Mini Egg Tortilla

Ingredients: Whole eggs, dairy cows milk, mozzarella cheese, capsicum diced, pie crusts. Directions: Beat the eggs and the milk then pour the mix into the pie crusts add Mozzarella cheese and diced vegetables. Enter the oven and bake until well cooked.

9. Smoothy Bowls

Frozen fruits, kefir, granola, and decoration (nuts, seeds, fresh fruits). Directions: Mix the frozen fruits with the yogurt and pour it in the bowls, give the children granola and other things to put on the top.

10. Dip for S’mores

Marshmallow, chocolate chips and graham cracker crumbs. Directions: In a casserole dish, place half the chocolate chips, then the marshmallows, and prepare for baking. Serve with street-style graham crackers.

Tips for cooking with childrens

Supervision: In the kitchen and especially around sharp edges or hot surfaces, always ensure children are under supervision.

Hands-On: Involve children in all steps of the cookery process, measuring, mixing and all.

Have Fun:  There is always fun and enjoyment in making dirty mess so do not be afraid of it!
